1993 IJCAI
Workshop on
Using Knowledge in Its Context
In 1993, the first workshop on context in AI took place in Chambéry,
France, in conjunction with IJCAI '93. This workshop, a summary of which
appeared in AI
Magazine had as its goal:
[...bringing] together leading researchers involved in the notion of
context and its use in advanced information systems. The workshop will
focus on computational principles and mechanisms for [eliciting],
modelling, and using the contextual aspect of knowledge, as well as
techniques and tools for constructing context-sensitive systems. [from the
proceedings]
Topics Addressed
- What is context?
- How can context be modeled?
- How can context be encapsulated in representation formalisms?
- What are the cognitive aspects linked to context?
- How does context influence human dialogues and how can it be taken into
account in AI?
- How can the notion of context in human-computer interaction be
exploited?
- What is the role of context in computer-supported cooperative work?
